I would never put a bark collar on any dog!!!!
there are ones for small dogs, but do becareful when you use it. It can lead to having the dog get injured if it’s used to often. Personally I LOVE the ones that you control when to zap them. They are considerably more expensive…but they work alot better I think.
I talked to my vet about a collar for my mini dachshund, who is also 7 lbs, and she warned me to NEVER use any kind of electronic bark collar of any kind on a dog under 10 lbs. She says that the electric shock, on such a small body, can mess with the electricity of the heart and actually stop the heart. Scary! However, she said that the citronella collars are safe and really do work.
A much safer way would be a sonar controller. You press the button and it emits a sound only the dog can hear, sort of like a dog whistle.
Yes, get a citronella bark collar. It sprays an offensive smell in front of their face when they bark. It’s non toxic and won’t irritate their nose or mouth or eyes, it just smells bad and makes them stop. It’s much safer than an electric collar for small dogs.
Pet street mall sells bark collars for toy dogs: there # is
800-957-5753 call them and ask for the Smart dog small dog trainer SD-70, mine was $84.99
Yes there is such a thing for a toy dog. My chihuahua is 5 pounds and I have one for her size. You want to make sure you use one that is right for your dogs size. You also want to make sure you are not using an automatic one: you want one with a remote that you control. The automatic ones are bad because they go off and sometimes the dog will get freaked out and make more noise and the collar doesn’t distinguish it from a bark and will keep going off. The one with the remote is good because you can start off on the lowest setting and may not have to increase the level. You also want to make sure you train your dog while using this collar. What I mean by this is to tell you dog “quiet” when he or she is barking and if they are not “quiet” then hit the button quickly and only once and say “quiet” again. These devices are not meant to be for long term use. Don’t leave it on the dog all night long and all day long. Use it while your home and while you can train the dog. After a couple of weeks you shouldn’t need the collar anymore.
I do not reccomend bark collars. They are just negatively making the dog not do things. If used incorrectly, most are, they can burn your dog, make him frightened and other detrimental effects. The citronella can cause nose and upper respiartory infections. Sorry to tell you this, but all dogs bark, there is no way to stop it, if you weren’t prepared to deal with barking, tthen you shouldn’t have gotten a dog.
There probably is. But you need to be careful on how you use it. My friend rescued a Golden retriever 2 days ago. This dog was abused with a shock collar and it had burns on it’s neck. So if you get one PLEASE be careful.
I would not recommend using a bark collar. We’ve had a couple of cases where the pet has been brought in with severe burns. The collar malfunctions and continues to shock the poor dog.
Use a spray bottle fill with 3/4 water and 1/4 white vinegar. every time he/she barks spray them and tell them ‘no noise’ or ‘no bark’
