Is the gray rubber plug necessary for the waterpoofing of the dog collar or is it just to keep dirt, etc. from entering. These are always lost in the woods or streams especially when the dog scratches herself. If they are necessary where can one buy these?

We have two 80 lb. dogs and bought two Innotek Adv-300 units in 2004–so we’ve had these for approximately 5 years and love them. The great features are: rechargeability of collars (can’t find that in many), waterproof, customer support. We did not buy these from Amazon, so that ended up working good for us. At one point we needed a replacement receiver (we dropped it on a very hard surface) and they shipped it to us free (after having it over a year) and then needed new remotes because of wear n’tear and they only charged us $60 for two brand new remotes (after having them 4+ years). My frustration now is that I want to get a similar one for my 12lb. Silky and there isn’t one with these features that is small for him. We paid $190 each at the time.

I had the same problem with 2 of these collars. The rechargable battery in the collar only lasts for 7 days at the most. Innotek claims 2 months in the manual. After I had the problem with the first one I charged the second one for 24 hrs instead of the suggested 12, so that I was sure it had a sufficiant charge. Sure enough the battery was dead 7 days later (of which the dog only wore on 5 of those days). From there the charge time steadily dwindled down to 3 days before I gave up and returned the second unit as well. Don’t waste your money.

This is the second time i am purchasing this item i have four dogs 3 are boxers. My first boxer got into the habbit of playing tag with me right before i go to work in the morning. I used it for one week and i never had to put it on him again i have two more and when they get bigger i will use it to train them. It is safe you can shock yourself on the hand and see that its just uncomfortable not hazzard.

We have used the more expensive collars, and it is fairly comparable.
May not have the “extras” that the more expensive ones have, but not really needed for one dog, and enough extras to suit your needs. Works well for my akita.
